5 NIGHTS ONWARDS
1/2/3 NIGHTS
Today among the fast-paced city life and busy working schedules, people often forget to take the much-needed break from work. They’re always over-burdened with work and sometimes might even feel guilty of taking a break.
Simply walking in a park surrounded by trees or along the beach can help reduce a lot of stress and anxiety.
Studies have shown that patients have recovered faster when they see trees from their window at the hospital. It is also proven that in a work environment people remember much better when they can see grass out of their window and on the contrary, people tend to be confused and irritable when they are surrounded by only building concrete. Think of nature vacations as a long psychiatric therapy session which, unlike your mainstream therapies are actually fun and something you’ll want to do again.
In an experiment conducted by Japanese researchers, people were asked to walk either in a forest or in an urban center. The results of this experiment showed low stress, anxiety levels and better moods in those who walked the forest than those who walked the urban center. By this, it was concluded that there is something about being in nature which brings the stress levels down.
When in nature you’re either jogging, trekking, walking long distances, which means it’s definitely good for treating diseases such as type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis, myopia, depression and rising levels of ADD.
Today we live in a world where we are constantly engaged to our cell phones, tablets, laptops etc. This constant information overload can be overwhelming and could eventually lead to mental fatigue. To counter this issue researchers have found out that being in nature can help you become more open to creativity and problem-solving.
It’s proven that walking in nature every day could reduce blood flow to the subgenual prefrontal cortex, a part of the brain associated with negative thought patterns. Basically, it not only reduces stress and anxiety but also makes you happy and healthy.
With time, many naturally occurring places are disturbed due to climate change, deforestation, development etc. Many sanctuaries and parks are also destroyed for urban development. This is definitely a good enough reason to put such places on your must-visit list.
The current generations might not be able to experience these places the way their past generations could.
